Position Title: SmartLife Accessibility & Data Support Intern
Location: Anywhere in Canada, Remote
Reports To: Manager, SmartLife
Compensation: $19.00 per hour
Date: March 30 to September 30, 2026
Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities
The SmartLife Accessibility & Data Support Intern will play a key role in supporting Canadians who are blind or partially sighted by ensuring accessible and accurate digital records. Working with the SmartLife management team, the intern will maintain data across platforms like Shopify, Salesforce, and NetSuite. Additionally, they will help maintain the SmartLife website's accessibility and ensure all content remains accurate and organized.
Essential Functions
The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:
- Enter and maintain product data on Shopify, ensuring website content is accessible and accurate.
- Support with data entry tasks across platforms like Shopify, Salesforce, and NetSuite, keeping records consistent and up to date.
- Ensure that all customer and product information is input correctly to support smooth operations and reporting.
- Track and maintain customer files and service records, ensuring accurate data entry for all activities.
- Help with documenting accessibility updates, making sure digital tools and data entry processes are accessible for all users.
- Monitor Salesforce data, ensuring entries are accurate and that client interactions are properly logged.
- Assist with tracking and organizing feedback data to improve accessibility practices and user experience.
- Support inventory and transaction data entry, whether in-person at the SmartLife Centre or via the e-commerce system, ensuring everything is recorded accurately.
Relationships
- Build strong relationships with clients, community partners, and technology vendors to promote trust, respect, and achievement of departmental goals.
- Work independently and with cross-functional teams, including regional and national CNIB staff, to coordinate services, share knowledge, and deliver accessible technology solutions.
Problem Solving/Time Frame of Impact
- Solve client and technology challenges quickly using creative thinking and analytical problem-solving to deliver personalized support and exceptional service.
- Manage multiple client requests, shifting priorities, and evolving procedures with efficiency and attention to detail to maintain timely service delivery.
Decision Autonomy
- Work independently within established processes to manage daily client interactions, sales activities, and administrative tasks with minimal supervision.
Apply sound judgment and professionalism when addressing client concerns or operational challenges to ensure positive experiences and smooth service delivery. - Collaborate with the manager for guidance on complex client needs or organizational matters to maintain consistency and high-quality standards across SmartLife operations.
- Maintain accurate records in the CRM system, tracking client interactions, product sales, and service outcomes to support reporting and continuous improvement.
Leadership
- Receive direction from the manager and provide day-to-day guidance to Warehouse Associates to align team efforts with established goals and service standards.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Experience in program development and outcome evaluation.
- Strong proficiency in Accessible Technologies, iOS platforms, MS Office Suites, and internet-based software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven time management, planning, coordination, and organizational skills
- Professional attitude, results-oriented, strategic, and flexible
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset
Experience and Education
- Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss.
- Shopify POS and Salesforce knowledge is an asset.
Work Environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
- This role is Remote or Hybrid.
